Dementia is caused when the brain is damaged by stroke or Alzheimer's disease.
Around the world, there will be new cases of dementia, one every 3 seconds
This number will almost double every 20 years, 74.7m in 2030
25,000 BAME people with dementia in UK, a figure predicted to grow to 50,000 by 2026 and 172,000 by 2051
Much of the increase will take place in low and middle income countries (LMICs), rising to 63% in 2030
Dementia will become a trillion dollar disease, rising to US $2 trillion by 2030
